Crosby Energy Services is hiring a skilled Electrician Offshore for critical operations based in Houma, Louisiana. This position is central to maintaining the safety, reliability, and efficiency of offshore production platforms. You will perform essential electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs in a demanding environment. The role requires strict adherence to safety protocols and the ability to work independently on a rotational schedule.
The successful candidate will ensure all electrical work meets stringent regulatory and company standards. You will be a key player in minimizing downtime and supporting continuous offshore operations. This is a hands-on role for a professional dedicated to operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
The Offshore Electrician will execute a wide range of technical and safety-critical tasks. Your primary duty is to maintain the integrity of all electrical systems offshore. You must respond promptly to electrical issues and document all work thoroughly.
You will work closely with production and mechanical teams. This collaboration ensures seamless platform operations. Your expertise will directly impact safety and production uptime.
Electrical Systems Maintenance
Maintain and repair offshore electrical systems including power distribution, MCCs, breakers, and switchgear.
Service critical equipment such as motors, generators, and backup power systems.
Perform all electrical installations, terminations, cable routing, and panel work to offshore standards.
Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and equipment specifications with precision.
PLC & Controls Support
Support troubleshooting of PLC-based systems, with a preference for Allen-Bradley platforms.
Assist with adjustments to safeguarding systems, interlocks, and alarm logic.
Work with process control equipment integral to production operations.
Operations & Mechanical Support
Operate and support platform systems including oil, gas, water, export, and utilities.
Inspect, test, and maintain piping systems and temporary plant setups.
Perform basic rigging, lifting, and hose management tasks as required.
Support enhanced recovery systems and facility utilities.
Safety & Regulatory Compliance
Execute all work safely in classified area zones and hazardous atmospheres.
Perform gas testing, gas freeing, and purging operations as necessary.
Apply strict MOS-OOS procedures, lockout/tagout, and isolation standards.
Utilize SCBA and other respiratory protection equipment when required.
Participate actively in emergency response planning and drills.
Ensure environmental compliance in handling waste, emissions, and discharges.
Job Requirements
We are seeking a qualified professional who meets the following criteria. Your application must demonstrate proven experience in these areas.
A. Mandatory Requirements
Education: High School Diploma or Secondary School equivalent.
Years of Experience: Proven experience working as an Electrician in an offshore oil & gas environment.
Core Competencies: Expertise in maintaining electrical drives, motor control centers, and power systems. Solid ability to diagnose electrical faults and perform repairs under safety standards. Strong understanding of electrical safety protocols for hazardous areas.
Certifications: Must hold all required offshore safety and technical certifications (e.g., HUET, BOSIET, TWIC). Specific electrical certifications as mandated by regulatory bodies.
B. Technical Requirements
Tools, Systems, Software: Experience with electrical testing equipment, diagnostic tools, and SAP or similar maintenance documentation systems.
Programming Languages or Platforms: Familiarity with Allen-Bradley PLC platforms for basic troubleshooting and adjustment support.
Industry-Specific Technologies: Hands-on experience with offshore power distribution systems, switchgear, and generators. Knowledge of safeguarding systems and process control equipment tied to production.
C. Preferred / Nice-to-Have Requirements
Additional Skills: Solid knowledge of HVAC and utility equipment inspection and maintenance. Ability to support operations during abnormal conditions, shutdowns, or startup events.
Soft Skills: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong problem-solving skills and a quick response mindset. Excellent verbal and written communication for clear documentation and team coordination.
Advantageous Experience: Experience understanding temporary plant changes and ensuring their safe execution. Familiarity with enhanced recovery systems.
