Your Core Responsibilities as Our Technician Central Laboratory
In this hands-on technical role, you will be responsible for executing a wide range of laboratory functions that are critical to our production quality and environmental compliance. Your daily work will directly impact our operational efficiency and product integrity.
Key Laboratory Testing & Analysis Duties
Your primary duty will be to conduct precise sampling and analysis according to the established quality plan under the supervision of the Senior Chemist. This encompasses a broad scope across our facilities, including the Smelter, Raw Material Handling (RMH), Electro Refinery, Sulphuric Acid Plant, Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), and Sewage Treatment Plant (STP). You will perform routine and specialized testing at the Central & RMH Laboratory, which includes the sampling of copper concentrate and the testing of input, in-process, and output material at every stage of production.
Comprehensive Sampling and Monitoring Scope
Your analytical remit extends to essential environmental and quality monitoring. You will conduct water analysis for process and effluent streams, perform ambient air and noise monitoring to ensure workplace and environmental safety, and execute specialized analyses such as fire assay. Utilizing both wet chemistry and advanced instrument analysis, you will handle in-process samples from the copper smelter, electro refinery, sulphuric acid plant, and ETP/WTP. A critical function will be the sampling and analysis of finished goods, including copper cathode and sulphuric acid, to certify product quality before dispatch.
Equipment Stewardship and Procedural Compliance
Beyond analysis, you will prepare, calibrate, and maintain sophisticated laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure unwavering accuracy. Recording and analyzing test results with a keen eye for detail is paramount, as is maintaining comprehensive documentation in adherence to strict quality control and safety procedures. You will also assist in troubleshooting technical issues, contributing to the continuous and efficient operation of laboratory processes.
Required Qualifications for Success
To be considered for this Technician Central Laboratory position, candidates must meet the following essential criteria:
An Associate degree or equivalent qualification in Laboratory Technology, Chemistry, or a closely related scientific field.
A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in an industrial or production laboratory setting.
Demonstrated strong attention to detail and a proven ability to follow strict, detailed protocols without deviation.
Practical familiarity with laboratory safety standards (such as ISO/IEC 17025) and procedures, including the safe handling of chemicals and operation of lab equipment.
A fundamental understanding of the principles behind analytical techniques relevant to mining or metallurgy is expected.
